I know that this project is not suitable for many people, but I am happy to share this idea and hope for the support of the community. There are many people on the internet who want that mac mini m4 can use type C power port instead of traditional ac power, many solutions have been done by people but still, it is not really complete.
So I got the idea of redesigning a new case for this mac mini m4, which can do that and even more.
Beside being able to convert it from using electricity to using battery, it can also connect to many other devices in the future through type c connection by magnet.
This is the iStack project. The case that helps transform traditional mac mini m4 into a more flexible computer, used in many different places with many different ways of providing power.
I wanted to create a highly customizable computer, it can work by stacking everything on top of each other and removing it when not in use. And mac mini m4, not just a great but also suitable machine to do that. It is compact, high performance, low power consumption, cool and reasonable price to do.
Imagine having 3 different workspaces, with full monitors, keyboards and mouse, just no computer. Then this might be a great solution for you, I’ve created a computer system that can be used in many different situations, can use electricity, powerbank or charger with type C port, or a battery pack underneath.
You can place it on the table and use it as a traditional computer. You can lift it out and move it to a table, draw with a touch screen. Or, you can take it out and connect with a battery pack, use it with the outspace or anywhere you want and use it the way you want.
It took me a lot of time, effort and cost to test, choose out connection solution, most optimal and safest design to implement this project. I’ve already designed the connection positions with magnets, included the power source, and type C protocol, all ready to be able to expand other functions in the future.
If you love engineering, and want to explore your skills and create with me. Let's make it happen together. You don't need to know much to do this project, just open them up and assemble them following my documentation and video tutorial.
Announcement of canceling the iStack project Thank you everyone for following my project for the past few days. After many days surveying the community and acknowledging feedbacks on other platforms. The biggest reason that I decided to cancel is: This project is quite complicated and requires lots of skills to complete, it’s currently not suitable for the user community on makerworld yet. So I would like to temporarily cancel it here, but if anyone of you loves it and is inspired to do it, please don’t hesitate to contact me, I will provide instructions and share design files for you to do it. I will definitely show you my new projects, simplẻ and more convenient in the future, hoping to receive your support.
