Two nozzles — easy supports, minimal purge
The Bambu Lab X2D is an enclosed CoreXY FDM printer with two nozzles in one toolhead: a primary direct-drive extruder (hard plastics, abrasives) and an auxiliary Bowden extruder (support material or a second color). With two separate nozzles, support removal and material changes create almost no purge — the classic weakness of single-nozzle multi-material printing. Add a 65°C heated chamber, a toolhead camera and the AMS 2 Pro, and this is the most complete mid-range dual-nozzle of 2026.
What the X2D does well
Two nozzles (dual-nozzle)
A primary direct-drive nozzle for hard/abrasive filament plus an auxiliary Bowden nozzle for support or a 2nd color — easy support removal and far less purge than single-nozzle machines.
Active 65°C heated chamber
A chamber that heats to 65°C with a 300°C nozzle — stable ABS / ASA / nylon and most engineering filaments, with less warping.
Up to 25 colors
Pair it with the AMS 2 Pro for multi-color / multi-material up to 25 colors, with filament drying in the feeder.
Toolhead Camera + AI
Two cameras — liveview + toolhead camera — plus real-time AI monitoring that catches failures early.
Servo extruder, flow sensing
A servo extruder with real-time flow sensing and filament tangle detection — steady extrusion and early warnings.
Great price, mature ecosystem
From ~$649 (combo with AMS 2 Pro ~$899) — dual-nozzle tech at mid-range pricing, inside Bambu's very polished ecosystem.
Where it's not yet optimal
No machine is perfect — here are the trade-offs worth knowing before you buy, drawn from hands-on use and international reviews.
Aux nozzle is slower (Bowden 200mm/s)
The right nozzle is Bowden-fed and capped around 200mm/s — the two aren't equal. Flexibles like TPU should run on the left direct-drive nozzle, not the right.
Multicolor still purges · 256³ area
Dual nozzles cut purge on support/material changes, but printing many colors via AMS still wastes filament on color swaps; the build volume is a moderate 256³.
Bambu's closed ecosystem
Like all Bambu machines, software and connectivity are tied to its own ecosystem (app, cloud). Very smooth for most users, but weigh it if you want deep customization or full independence.
