ELEGOO
CENTAURI CARBON

Elegoo's first enclosed CoreXY: entry-level money, yet a sealed chamber, 500 mm/s, a 320 °C hardened-steel nozzle and a chamber camera. A very sensible first 3D printer.

Overview

Entry-level price, mid-range hardware

The Centauri Carbon went on sale in early 2025 for about $299 — Bambu Lab A1 money — yet its design and mechanics sit closer to the P1S and X1: an enclosed CoreXY, a die-cast aluminum frame, 20,000 mm/s² acceleration. It arrives assembled and calibrated; one tap runs bed leveling, Z-offset, vibration and pressure-advance calibration. I called it one of 2025's most worthwhile printers for newcomers — and designed a whole accessory kit for it.

Strengths

What the Centauri Carbon does well

🏎️

CoreXY at 500 mm/s

Twin 4260 motors drive X/Y at up to 500 mm/s with 20,000 mm/s² acceleration and 32 mm³/s of flow; active vibration compensation keeps surfaces clean at speed.

🧰

Unbox and print

It ships pre-assembled and calibrated. One tap handles bed leveling, Z-offset, vibration and pressure-advance calibration — no more paper test.

🧵

Carbon-fiber ready

A 320 °C brass/hardened-steel nozzle, a fast AC-heated 110 °C bed and an enclosure that holds the heat — PLA-CF, PETG-CF, ABS and ASA straight out of the box.

📷

Chamber camera + LED

Watch prints remotely in real time, record time-lapses, with LED lighting day or night. Plus a runout sensor, power-loss recovery and fan self-checks.

🏗️

Die-cast frame, glass door

An integrated die-cast aluminum top frame and chassis stay rigid at speed; the door and lid are tempered glass; a nano-mineral air filter is built in.

💰

Easy on the wallet

It launched at around $299 — bed-slinger money for an enclosed CoreXY. Elegoo later added the CANVAS multicolor kit as an upgrade path.

An honest take

Where it's not yet optimal

No machine is perfect — here are the trade-offs worth knowing before you buy, drawn from hands-on use and international reviews.

⚠️

No active chamber heating

The enclosure only holds heat passively, with no heater — PC and nylon can still warp in a cold room, and for PLA you should lift the top lid to avoid heat creep.

⚠️

A younger software ecosystem

ElegooSlicer (an OrcaSlicer fork) works, but isn't as polished as Bambu Studio; some owners hit a laggy screen or flaky Wi-Fi on early firmware.

⚠️

Already succeeded

Elegoo has launched the Centauri Carbon 2 with built-in multicolor, and the original is largely sold out officially. If you're buying now, compare prices with the CC2 first.
